What to bring and what to do at Norriego Point

Norriego Point offers a unique setting for an unforgettable beach getaway. Your family can play on the shore and splash in the tranquil waters of protected tide pools. Kick back in the sugar-white sand of the beach watching ships glide past, or organize a snorkeling excursion to get a closer look at the stunning array of wildlife beneath the waves.

What to Do at Norriego Point

Enjoy Protected Waters

Unlike many of the beaches in Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Norriego Point is not located directly on the Gulf of Mexico. It’s a peninsula on Holiday Isle across from Destin Harbor. The East Pass side of Norriego Point provides several swimming areas enclosed by jetties and watched over by lifeguards, ideal locales for a relaxing swim with the family. You and the kids can also walk among the dunes of soft white sand, on the lookout for the graceful herons that circle overhead.

Boating

Norriego Point is a particularly popular destination for boating in Destin-Fort Walton Beach. There’s nothing quite like the sight of a gallant white vessel cruising over emerald waters against a backdrop of clear blue skies. Take a stroll along the east side of Norriego Point, and you’ll see a dazzling array of vessels — from tiki tour boats and paddleboats to jet skis and yachts. You can arrange your own boating adventure at the nearby Boogies Watersports where you can choose from pontoon boats, personal watercraft, or a scenic ride on a glass bottom boat.

Snorkeling

Destin-Fort Walton Beach is known for its pristine waters and sublime visibility. Wait for high tide and then sink under the waves for the snorkeling adventure of a lifetime. The waters teem with wildlife, from puffer fish to octopus, majestic sea turtles, and dolphins. Stop by nearby Destin Snorkel to organize the ultimate underwater excursion!

Dolphins and Other Wildlife

Dolphins are among the most popular wildlife attractions in Destin and Fort Walton Beach. If you’d like to venture out on the water to get a closer look, SunVenture Cruises can arrange tours to all the best dolphin watching spots around Norriego Point. Perhaps you’ll choose to close out the day with their sunset dolphin cruise and see a pod of bottlenose dolphins playing in the waves against the vibrant backdrop.

What to Bring to Norriego Point

No beach trip will be complete without towels, flip-flops, and maybe even an umbrella for shade to shelter from the bright Florida sun. Before you head out for your surfside adventure stop by HarborWalk Village to procure all the necessities for a day in the sun. Grab some shades at Aloha Surf Company, and snap up the distinctive beachwear that changes color in the sun at Del Sol Nautical Treasures offers snacks in addition to souvenirs and beachy clothing. If you’re planning a day out on the water, HarborWalk Village features a variety of shops where you can gear up. Get a paddleboat at Kitty Hawk Kites where they have kayaks, water adventure boards, and so much more.

It’s all here for you, at Norriego Point, this lovely Holiday Isle peninsula just across from Destin Harbor. Start planning your trip today!
