72nd Destin Fishing Rodeo

For years, anglers from around the world have known that October means an entire month of exciting fishing and competitive action in Destin, Fort Walton Beach, Okaloosa Island. With 31 days of tournament action, it only takes one lucky catch to secure your spot as a daily winner, and maybe even a rodeo champion.

The Destin Fishing Rodeo will see anglers from all over put their skills to the test as they fight for hours to reel in the biggest wahoo, king mackerel, blackfin tuna, grouper, and more. With winners recognized in several different divisions, the rodeo is open to anyone who loves to fish, including everyone from kids to seniors, men and women, charter and party boats, those who stay close to the shore, and the adventurous types taking extended voyages. Participation is free to any angler fishing aboard boats registered in the Destin Fishing Rodeo. Weigh-ins will be held every night at AJ’s Seafood & Oyster Bar, were you’re invited to hangout, chat with other rodeo attendees, grab a bite, and see everyone’s catch of the day.

Whether you’re just bringing your lucky lure, or the whole family, there’s more than enough reasons to extend your stay to a few days, a couple of weeks, or all month long. Sure, fishing is what brings the thousands of participants to Destin each year for the rodeo. In fact, fishing is what built our community, and Destin is even known as “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village.” However, what started as a small commercial fishing village more than 150 years ago, has grown rapidly into one of the world’s premier beach destinations
