The City of Crestview Cultural Services Division and Living History Corps present Race to the Rhein, a World War II History and Re-Enactment Weekend.

Note we have a special students and veterans day, which will include guided tours escorted by a uniformed reenactor for classes and groups. We’ll have a temporary museum, a history pavilion featuring a “history walk” with 24 4’x8’ panels on a variety of familiar and little-known WWII events, and a two-acre wood with Allied and Axis encampments. There’s plenty of free parking, and we’ll have food trucks, snacks, beverages and militaria vendors. Saturday night will feature a 7 p.m. USO-style show with a 15-piece big band, possibly a student big band, and between band breaks, schtick from actual WWII USO show scripts. Sunday we’ll have a non-denominational field service conducted from a WWII chaplain’s manual with music from the 1942 Army-Navy Hymnal. To say it’ll be an impressive educational experience is an understatement! I have an incredible organizational team of reenactors/historians putting this together!
