Robin Williams once said, “Spring is nature’s way of saying, ‘Let’s Party!’” From fishing tournaments to taco festivals, here you will explore plenty of reasons to celebrate spring in Destin and Fort Walton Beach. The season is officially in bloom when spring break kicks off in March, bringing with it families seeking fun in the sun.
Holidays like Easter and Mother’s Day celebrate new life. Pub crawls for Saint Patrick’s Day and Cinco de Mayo offer up two more great reasons to celebrate on the Destin Harbor. To help you get the most of your spring vacation, we highlighted a few of our most popular events below.
Fiesta like there is no mañana! Spice up your life at the Tequila and Taco Festival, a spring event in Destin with tequila tastings, live music, and tacos galore.
The two-day festival happens each March at HarborWalk Village. Over 30 varieties of tequila are paired with creative twists on fish, shrimp, beef and authentic Latin tacos. It’s all for a good cause. Since proceeds benefit local charities, eating your weight in tacos is completely justifiable!
As “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village,” Destin is home to some big fishing tournaments. The Destin Cobia World Championships kicks off the spring season with a month-long event that attracts hundreds of anglers to the Harborwalk Village Marina.
For over two decades, the Destin Cobia World Championships has provided fisherman with tall tales and excellent payouts. Keeping with tradition, the tournament begins at the end of March ― with the first Cobia caught and weighed-in by a boat officially entered in the tournament ― and ends in late April or early May, when the crowds gather on the wooden docks awaiting the final score.
Since 2001, the Musical Echoes Native American Flute Festival has been held each April at the Fort Walton Beach Landing on Santa Rosa Sound. Festivalgoers enjoy live music and dance performances while interacting with Native American artisans, watching demonstrations, attending seminars, and learning to play or make a Native American style flute.
This three-day spring event in Fort Walton Beach is free to attend and a great way to experience Native American Arts and Culture on the Emerald Coast.
From weekly fireworks on the Destin Harbor to unique festivals celebrating the beach life, spring on Emerald Coast is the official start to another season in the sun. Check out our events calendar below and start planning which events you will attend.
Destin Commons is the place for the best value classic car weekend with Burning Up the Beaches.
