Captain Brandy Miles

As a mom of 5, Captain Brandy embraces bringing families on board, making sure everyone is comfortable and then gets on fish! She's a 2nd generation angler who has been fishing since she was 11. Brandy even teaches a high school fishing class (the first of its kind) and Nick, her first mate, is one of her students.

I was surprised at the size of the fish we caught. The strength of the fish is crazy. I didn't think it was going to pull that hard.

Captain Brandy

Who taught you to fish?

My dad. I helped him out when I was young, doing tasks like tying rigs and cutting bait. I started working as a first mate when I was 16.

What sets you apart from other captains?

I'm one of the only charter captains in the Destin-Fort Walton Beach fishing fleet that's a mom. I'm also a teacher at Destin High School where I teach charter fishing-we're the only school that offers fishing as an elective credit here in the state of Florida.

Get a good night's rest! We have a lot of fun out on the water but it's a jam-packed day of fishing excitement.

Tell us about your first mate.

My first mate, Nick, is one of the students in my fishing class! He’s been fishing since he was 8, so he has a ton of experience with an added benefit of knowing how to talk to teens.

As a first mate and student in Captain Brandy’s high school fishing class, Nick is passionate about preserving the sport and loves competing against his brother, Ben, the first mate from Team Special K.

Gage, Scout

Gage just graduated high school where his favorite class was marine biology. He loves fishing with his friends and is super knowledgeable about fishing in the Gulf.
