Day 3: Pier Fishing, Downtown Strolls and Waterfront Dining

From exploring hidden sea critters by snorkeling to gliding on the crystal-clear waters on a Stand Up paddle-board (SUP), these hands-on experiences are designed to inspire confidence, spark curiosity and create unforgettable memories for families and kids of all ages.
Spend the morning participating in a Little Adventures fishing class at The Island Pier on Okaloosa Island. This guided experience introduces families to pier fishing in a fun and approachable way, making it ideal for beginners. The clear water allows for easy sight-casting, where anglers can spot fish below and cast directly to them. Along the way, it’s common to see dolphins, sea turtles, manta rays, pelicans and herons around the pier.
The Island Pier offers rod and reel rentals, bait and wristband access for the full day, allowing families to take breaks for snacks or lunch before returning to the water.
Afterwards, stop at Angler’s Beachside Grill for lunch, where fresh seafood is served with sweeping views of the Gulf. To continue your seafood filled adventure make sure to look at some of their signature dishes including peel-and-eat shrimp, creamy shrimp and grits, crab-crusted grouper and classic grouper sandwiches.
After lunch, enjoy a sweet treat at Thick Cookie Co., known for oversized cookies in monthly rotating flavors. Options range from banana pudding cookies stuffed with creamy filling to chocolate caramel coconut cookies packed with rich flavors.
Later in the afternoon, explore the downtown area of Fort Walton Beach downtown area of Fort Walton Beach. The walkable district blends coastal charm with local culture, offering boutique shopping, dining and community gathering spaces.
End the day at The Gulf on Okaloosa Island, a bay-front venue designed with recycled materials and open-air seating. The seasonal menu highlights local ingredients, with popular selections including a seafood boil featuring snow crab legs, shrimp, mussels, corn and potatoes; fresh catch of the day fish, prepared grilled, blackened or fried; lobster and shrimp rolls; and the signature Gulf burger.

Day 4: Farewell, For Now
Enjoy breakfast at The Remedy at Beal House before checking out. The menu highlights coastal flavors with Cajun influences. Signature dishes include powdered sugar dusted beignets, the Floribama Benedict topped with grilled shrimp and crawfish mushroom sauce, and strawberry cream cheese-stuffed pancakes finished with fresh berries and whipped cream.
