Fishing off The Island Pier
The Island Pier has everything your family needs for some serious fishing fun.
The Island Pier rents equipment and has drinks, sandwiches, and snacks for purchase. This is a favorite place for beginner fisherman since the water is clear and you’re able to “sight-cast.” This means you can see the fish in the water and cast right to them!
Kids will love fishing, watching others fish and seeing wildlife like sea turtles, dolphins and manta rays swimming around The Island Pier. (It’s also a great spot to watch herons and pelicans do their own dive-bomb form of fishing!)
Tip from our locals:
Go early in the morning or around dusk for the best fishing or mid-morning to mid-afternoon if you’re looking for smaller crowds. Mid-morning to mid-afternoon is also a great time for first-timers to check out The Island Pier before coming back around sunset for more serious fishing. Make sure you wear a good pair of shoes, bring a folding chair and put on plenty of sunscreen. And if you’re not sure about what bait to use, don’t be afraid to ask The Island Pier employees!
