Patriot Park will be developed into a 165-acre county park that is mainly bottomland hardwoods, floodplains and cypress sloughs with approximately 11acres of raised open area containing grasses, shrubs, and a sporadic variety of trees. The park is crescent-shaped and will have a playground, fenced dog park, challenge and rope courses, pickleball courts, paved parking lots and restrooms on the east and west side, pavilions, and two walking trails. There will also be a viewing deck along the Shoal River with a second viewing area over a cypress pond on the east side of the park. Also under construction is a hiking/mountain biking trail that extends from the eastern side of Patriot Park to the Partridge Hills neighborhood, eventually reaching all the way to Interstate 10. There will also be a short 0.5 mile loop on the south side of Patriot Park that will traverse through a cypress slough with views of the Shoal River.
