Scuba diving

Want to try scuba but you’re not sure where to start?

You can dip your toe in the water (well, technically your whole body) with the half-day Discover Scuba program from Scuba Tech or Emerald Coast Scuba. You and your family can learn the basics, try on diving equipment and then try out your new skills in a shallow dive in the calm water near the Destin Jetties. This is perfect for kids 10+ and is the best way to introduce your family to the world of scuba.

By the way, this counts as an open water dive towards getting scuba certified to keep the adventure going. Once you’re certified (you can take the PADI online course at home to get a head-start) you can explore deeper areas like the Miss Louise tugboat wreck (or any of our other wrecks in Wreck Alley) and Amberjack Rocks. It’s never been easier to try diving, so what are you waiting for?

Tip from our locals:

Make sure to clean your mask thoroughly prior to beginning your adventure. There are also products that you can apply to your mask to keep it from fogging up and obscuring your view during your dive.
